Wessex Jamaat held the 'Know Your Muslim Neighbour' programme on Monday 17th November, 2014. This is an annual event where Religious Education trainee teachers from the University of Chichester meet with the youth and members of Wessex Jamaat to gain a practical insight on Islam and Muslims in the U.K.

Hiridjee Foundation Student Loan Recipients 2016 & 2017
Over the last two years, The World Federation has received six applications for this generous and steady loan scheme. Mashallah each and every application was successful. Their excellent academic performance in addition to their voluntary involvement in the community was commendable. The Loan Application Committee (LAC), with the generous support of the Trust, decided to grant the loan to all six applicants.
We would like to congratulate the applicants who have successfully secured the advertised loan and wish both applicants success in all future endeavors.
The successful recipients of the Hiridjee Family Loan for 2016 and 2017 are:
1. Aiman Gulamhusein (2016)
Aiman is originally from Dar es Salaam and is pursuing a PhD in Molecular Biomedical Research from Aston University in Birmingham, which is a three year course. She is self-motivated and has done her Masters in Pharmacology and Drug discovery. In 2016, Aiman was awarded a total of GBP 26,550 for 3 years.
2. Narjis Khatoon Meghji (2016)
Narjis is from Dubai but originally is a Tanzanian. She is pursuing a 3 years bachelors degree in comparative literature from Queen Mary University in London. Literature is a subject Narjis is very passionate about. She has received numerous certificates and awards in academics, sports as well as Madressa. On completion of her course, she looks forward to a job in journalism, publishing, editing, translation, or other related fields that make use of her writing and analytical skills and knowledge of literature and film. She has been awarded GBP 5,000per year for 3 years.
3. Rahat Sumar (2016)
Rahat is originally from Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania and studied in London. She sought to do her Masters in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies from Kings College in London. She is very passionate about human rights and current affairs and is ambitious and determined about taking a stand and give her views on political matters. She has been involved in Madressa and has participated in quite a few extra curriculum activities. Rahat is very hard working and is working two jobs to be able to fund her transport and personal expenses. She was awarded GBP 10,000 for her Masters.
4. Shamim Meghji (2016)
Shamim is from Dubai but originally a Tanzanian. She is pursuing a 3 years BA/BSc in Early childhood studies and education from the University of Roehampton in London. She has a lot of passion to work for infants with special needs and has actively volunteered and taught at Madressa. She was awarded GBP 5,000 per year for 3 years.
5) Rukhsaar Ali: (2017)
Rukhsaar is from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. She is pursuing her MBBS which is a 5 ½ years course at Kasturba Medical College Manipal University in India. She aims to alleviate the suffering of people as far as health is concerned. She was awarded GBP 15,000 in total for 3 years.

The World Federation President, Dr Asgharali Moledina was invited as the Chief Guest at the Convocation Ceremony of boys graduating at Fatimiyah Boys School. The graduation ceremony was for those students that completed Metric (equivalent of GCSE) in September 2014.
