ZCSS: Dreams taking flight

Updated 23 October 2013

All over the world, there are children who are unable to pursue an education.  Caught in the cycle of poverty, the only way to break the chain is through the provision of education.  Through education we can collectively give them the opportunity and ability to conquer other challenges. The World Federation’s education objective is to empower communities with the ability to become self-sufficient.

An example of this need is in India.  The World Federation has been working in India for over 30 years, and we have continued to learn that an investment in education within India yields one of the highest returns compared to anywhere else around the world. We currently sponsor students in eight states out of India’s 28 states. These include Andhra Pradesh, Gujurat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and West Bengal.

The World Federation has focussed efforts to uplift communities out of poverty and that requires continuous support to meet the demands of one of the world’s largest populations.

One such individual that has been able to come out of the cycle of poverty through the assistance of the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) is Zain from Hyderabad.

Zain’s father was a Moazzam in a mosque earning a meager salary.  After primary level, Zain’s father was unable to meet his educational expenses.   Through the support of ZCSS, he completed his A.M.E and passed with 86%.  To achieve this success, Zain would spend hours studying under a kerosene lamp.

Zain now resides in Qatar and works with Qatar Airways as an Assistant Mechanic.  He is able to support his family by sending them a part of his income each month.    He is highly grateful to his donor, ZCSS, and The World Federation for their tremendous support.

Zain would have never thought that he would be able to not only receive an education, but to be able to work outside of India in a reputable company with a secure job and future.  Receiving a sponsor through ZCSS made this possible.  Zain’s success is the first step to allowing the future generations of his family become educated, prosperous and self-sufficient.

By working in India, and assisting individuals such as Zain, we have been able to take children away from child labour, forced employment, poverty, ill health, and the streets. These children would have otherwise grown up in the cycle of poverty but now they have an ambition, a sense of hope and the responsibility to support their families.

Support ZCSS
Sponsoring a child through ZCSS undoubtedly begins a domino effect that carries over ten fold.  When you help educate a child, you are helping educate a nation.  Let’s give education to everyone, because everyone deserves a chance to learn.

Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme works in Kenya, Tanzania, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Haiti. We sponsor over 5000 students in six countries ranging from Kindergarten to University Education. We have often heard, give up a cup of coffee to help a child, but do we do it?  Perhaps we think that such a small contribution won’t make a difference, or maybe we tell ourselves we will get to it but don’t or we tell ourselves someone else will do it so we don’t have to.

But what if you did?
