Saturday, 13th December 2014 marked the day of Arba’een , 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a). This year, as in recent past years, millions turned up to pay their respects to the holy Imam (a) in Kerbala, most of them undertaking the journey on foot as a sign of love and loyalty to the cause of the Ahlul Bayt (a).

On Saturday 17th May 2014, The World Federation presented six lifetime achievement awards. Six individuals were present to accept the award, and four were presented the award at a later date.
On Thursday 7 November 2013, 4 shells were fired at the Shrine of Sayyidah Zaynab. One of the shells struck one of the minarets causing minor damage. Another hit the courtyard, injuring 30 people, 15 of which were women and children.
