Al-Qa’im Sponsor Our Seniors (SOS) Program: What if You Knew You Could Bring a Smile to a Lonely Senior?

“The one who relieves a believer from distress, God will deliver him from the distress of this world and the hereafter.” Imam Husayn (AS)

The Al-Qa’im Sponsor Our Seniors (SOS) Program was launched in the name of Imam-e-Zamaana (AS).  Imam Al-Mahdi’s (AS) title, ‘Al Qa’im’ is a reminder to us all of our duty to rise and give hope to those who live in despair. The SOS Program provides seniors living in abject poverty with a monthly income supplement to help meet their living expenses, giving them the opportunity to age gracefully.

Today, a senior is wondering where his/her next meal is going to come from. Another elder is forced to choose between food and medication because of lack of funds. These are the kinds of everyday problems many of our elders are facing. Often times, these seniors have no family to turn to for help, and end up suffering in silence, alone and without hope.

What if you knew you could help?

WHERE WE WORK

The World Federation of KSIMC is currently sponsoring seniors 105 seniors in Bihar, India.  Through your generosity, we hope to expand our support of seniors to other regions in an effort to alleviate poverty among the elderly in our global community.

MEET ONE OF OUR SENIORS

The World Federation aims to meet the many difficulties of old age through the SOS program.  Your support means so much to an elderly person in Bihar where each senior we assist has a different story to share. Sherbanu (alias name) is a widow and one of many who receives funds through the SOS  program. She is a breast cancer patient and after having her one breast removed, she attends monthly cancer clinics and must have regular blood work.  Despite her health, she tries her best to stay in good spirits and assists in however she can in the daily household chores such as cleaning and cooking.

Sherbanu lives with her son and daughter in a rented house.  Her children assist her as much as they are able to, however their earnings are very small as her son is a driver and her a daughter a clerk.  Whilst they are barely able to manage their household expenses, it is too difficult for them to manage the cost of their mother’s medical bills. The SOS program helps Sherbanu to cover the costs of her medical expenses, which she cannot go without.

PLEASE DONATE:  WHAT A PERFECT WAY TO SHOW YOU CARE

Seniors like Sherbanu suffer in silence, alone and without hope.  Your donation can bring a smile to a lonely senior. The cost of sponsoring a senior in Bihar is as little as £10 (GBP) / $15 (USD) / $20 (CDN) per month.  Seniors may be sponsored with a monthly, yearly or one time donation. Most of these elders spend their monthly payments on basic essentials including food, clothing, physician expenses, prescriptions, or medical tests.
