A Young Lady with a Light to Shine

Zahra Rasool is a young woman on a mission. She has steadily risen through the academic ranks in her chosen area of study and after winning awards and honours is now set on a project to highlight and encourage empowerment of women in India.

Born and bred in Mumbai, Zahra is the perfect voice for the seeds of change that are being sowed all over the continent.  With the support of her family, she chose to study journalism at the University of Missouri, Columbia and established herself a powerful, yet modest speaker for cultural diversity and social justice.

She has had the opportunity to study both in the UK and South Korea through exchange programs and been nominated for awards regarding international relations and social issues regarding women.  Most recently she was granted the O. O. McIntyre Fellowship, which is the Highest Postgraduate Award Offered by the University with a $12,000 Stipend.

Zahra intends to use this award to produce videos highlighting the experiences and challenges of women across India who are at the forefront of change and empowerment for their gender.

The World Federation is honoured to have been able to help Zahra reach this height by sponsoring her education while she was in the UK and we pray for her continued success in her noble efforts, insha’Allah.
