Each year, in the Islamic month of Zilhajj, Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al Hajj, a religious holiday also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice”. This year, this event fell on the Gregorian calendar date of 5th October 2014.
This Holy Month of Ramadhan has been a difficult one – with the conflict in Gaza, the continuous unrest in Syria and the instability in Iraq.
During the Holy Month of Ramadhan, The World Federation has been working closely with our team in Iraq to distribute aid, such as food parcels, through the Ramadhan Relief Program. This included humanitarian assistance to displaced families who have been affected by the current conflict in Iraq.
The UN estimates that there are now more than 1.2million internally displaced Iraqis. Many of those displaced are temporarily housed in camps, but are still affected by problems such as the access to clean water and sanitation, food supplies and clean clothes.
The World Federation has launched the Iraq Relief Fund to assist those who have been internally displaced in Iraq. InshAllah, through your support, it is intended that The World Federation will provide basic necessities, such as food, clothing, blankets etc to help those who have lost everything as they fleed their homes.
