The World Federation of KSIMC Triennial Conference will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 16-18 May, 2014. During the conference, several key issues will be addressed and a number of decisions will be made, including the areas of focus for the next term. Various discussions will also take place in relation to the organisation’s administration costs, the Madressa Centre of Excellence, capacity building, women’s needs, and much more.

Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme
Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) is an initiative of The World Federation started by Marhum Mulla Asghar and has been running for over 30 years. This sponsorship scheme supports young students in less advantaged Shia populated areas of the world in order for them to complete their education. The World Federation is committed to ensuring that the donors of the scheme and its supporters are kept informed on the progress made. The World Federation works to ensure that all its projects are adding value to their respective geographic areas. We review our work via a professional system of evaluation that assists us in guaranteeing that the service we deliver is at its best. ZCSS supports students in several countries.
Madrasah Centre of Excellence
The World Federation organised a Madrasah retreat in Dubai in February 2011, where over 25 Madaris from Europe, East Africa, Middle East, North America, India and Pakistan were represented. At this retreat, stakeholders discussed the future of our Madaris, and a strategy document was prepared for the Madrasah agenda of The World Federation. It highlighted the challenges that were being faced by the Madaris, the possible solutions and the resources required. This important document was approved unanimously at The World Federation Conference in May 2011. A key recommendation was the formation of a formal structure to ensure that the Madrasah agenda is always at the forefront of our leaders and our global organisation. Although it was understood that this paper was only the beginning of the overall project, the approval of it was a monumental step in reviving the focus on the Madrasah. The Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) was the structure that was formed to find the solutions for the challenges faced by the Madaris.
Media Sub-Committee
The media team holds teleconference meetings every 6-8 weeks. The team reviews current affairs and selects items that the team can address. The team also selects topics on which to write press releases for external media. The team is also conscious of current events and responds accordingly by issuing press releases and articles. Despite the challenges the team faces in regards to time differences, the committee has developed a process that allows each member to contribute to the task at hand, while still providing timely reporting. The team also maintains a non-political stance in their views and is cautious of issues that may be sensitive to the internal and external audience.

Capacity Building
As we envision our future, we realise that we can only achieve our ambitious community goals through creating highly capable, able and strategic leaders. The programs of the Capacity Building team aim develop leadership capacity across the Muslim communities in Europe by unlocking the potential of our people to serve the community and humanity. The type of leaders that will enable the Muslim community to develop strategies to contribute fully for the common good of both the Muslim and wider society.
The World Federation of KSIMC Generation Plan
Our community has transformed irreversibly with the needs, challenges and anxieties of our forefathers being of a very different kind. However, in today's 21st Century, it is important to point out that the modern society has brought with it a multiplicity of challenges that we can only ignore at our peril. So how will our Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Community survive in the 21st century and beyond?
For us to survive, we must build upon the good work and thinking of the Strategic Plan which began in 2003 and indeed create a plan for the next 20 years - 'A Generational Plan.' Simply put, this 'Generational Plan' is one which need to help us understand our context and to adapt for the future. It will help our institutions make long term commitments and agree on a common direction forward in many areas.
Impact Assessment Paper
The objective of this paper is to point out a strategy of conducting impact assessments for The World Federation of KSIMC. This paper will highlight the definition of impact assessment, why a civil society organisation such as The World Federation of KSIMC should be conducting such an assessment and what resources are required in conducting Impact Assessments and making it a central element of our work in the International Development Department.
Production Company Policy Paper
This paper has highlighted the need for a production company; it has also laid out what a production company is, and its three main processes in the production of content. We have also augmented our production company to act as a commissioner of content. So the channels, organisations, or individuals may come to us and ask for funding, support or production of content. All in all we have developed a coherent working understanding of our needs, requirements, and the concepts of production.
