This is an un-edited translation of selected sections of the book entitled The sunshine of Wilayat
(والیت آفتاب) from the esteemed scholar, Ayatullah Misbah Yazdi, with the hope that any benefit the
honourable reader derives from it would please the heart of my master, الفداء له روحی.
Every experience in life should be seen with positivity and such was the case with this course, Alhamdulillah. From the beginning few days of anxiousness, confusion, uncertainty, and solitude, we quickly became brothers, spiritual partners and helped each other in our journey towards Allah (SWT) through the holy cities.
Our emotional states were uplifted towards feelings of tranquility, happiness, humility, and love. Meeting these different brothers from various backgrounds and learning to appreciate their unique styles and expressions of love for the Ahlul Bayt (as) was an enlightening experience.
Some connected through recital of poetry, others lost themselves in du'a and ziyarah at the Haram; some engaged in stimulating discussions on issues that affect us all. Some mentees were trying to move beyond performing basic religious duties whereas others were trying to find their place in life and begin their spiritual journey.
As a mentor, I attempted to connect with each of these different styles and look within myself to see how it related to my own personal journey towards Allah (SWT). These are the types of lessons that do not come easily in life.
Those who pass up on these opportunities to benefit from these life experiences will certainly miss out. I look forward to offering my time and assistance to the course again next year, if Allah (SWT) provides us with the blessed opportunity.
