Gaza Relief Fund: The World Federation pledges $60,000 USD (CHANGED TO over $100,000 USD) for humanitarian aid urgently needed in Palestine

Update on 1 August 2014:  The World Federation has been overwhelmed by the support from the community for the Gaza Relief Fund.  As a result, The World Federation has increased the humanitarian aid it is providing in Gaza.  Since, the start of the Holy month of Ramadhan, The World Federation has pledged over $100,000 USD.

We would like to thank the worldwide community for your support and we pray for an end to the conflict - not only in Gaza but all over the world, including Syria and Iraq.

Palestine is living its gravest humanitarian crisis since the eight-day war of 2012. Since 7 July 2014, the violence and aggression escalating in the Gaza Strip has claimed the lives of so many innocent civilians and has injured and displaced scores of others. As of the morning of 25 July 2014 the latest statistics from Gaza reveal that an estimated:

  • 840 people have been killed

  • 5,400 people have been wounded

  • 150,000 people have been displaced

WHAT IS THE ‘GAZA RELIEF FUND’

Donations made to The World Federation’s GAZA RELIEF FUND provide humanitarian relief to men, women and children living in Palestine who are victims of war, aggression and oppression.  As the violence intensifies in Gaza, there is an increased need for food rations, non-food items and medical aid. The World Federation is working with its partners on the ground to help these victims.

Since the start of Ramadhan 1435, The World Federation has committed $60,000 USD in aid from its GAZA RELIEF FUND to Palestine. As Muslims, it is our humanitarian responsibility to help the people of Gaza and alleviate their sufferings in these desperate times. The World Federation is appealing to our worldwide community to donate to the GAZA RELIEF FUND.

HOW ARE SUPPLIES GETTING INTO GAZA WITH THE BLOCKADE IN PLACE?

The World Federation is working with two partnering agencies in Gaza to deliver aid. With the current blockade imposed on Palestine by Israel, aid is reaching the region in two ways:

  1. Once in a while, the Israeli army will allow humanitarian organisations to enter the Gaza Strip with aid supplies. This is usually a 10 to 15 minute window of opportunity which happens very rarely. Our partners are on the ground in Gaza and take advantage of these openings as much as possible to bring provisions into Gaza.

  1. There are a number of warehouses and shops that store food and emergency supplies. Aid organisations purchase urgently needed items from these businesses in times of emergencies. Whilst this option is expensive, it is usually the only one available to our partners.

PLEASE DONATE:  GAZA RELIEF FUND

The Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip are undergoing extremely difficult times. With the violence intensifying each day, families are scared and resources are depleting. Please donate generously to the GAZA RELIEF FUND where The World Federation has committed to sending more humanitarian aid to Gaza to bring relief to men, women and children living in and outside of refugee camps. Thank you for your support.
