Fill My Cup Appeal: 957 pre-primary students in Kenya miss breakfast everyday – let’s change this!

Across Kenya, scores of children drop out of school or do not attend regularly simply because of poor nutrition and calorie deficiencies that affect their ability to learn.

The World Federation’s ‘Fill My Cup’ Appeal is a daily in-school breakfast program that has been providing a hot cup of nutritional porridge for breakfast to children across 29 schools in Kenya since 2011. By providing breakfast each morning, children are motivated to attend regularly. We have seen that regular meals result in regular attendance which then results in improvements in the student’s academic grades. Filling their tummies with healthy food allows the students to learn better.

POVERTY AFFECTS CHILDREN

Many children living in Kenya’s rural areas only have a single meal a day. As families struggle with poverty, inflation and drought, it is financially challenging for parents to provide 3 balanced meals every day for their children.

LET’S CHANGE THIS!

957 pre-primary students in Kenya miss breakfast each morning. The total cost of providing all of these children a hot breakfast every morning for two school terms (January to August) is £11,900 GBP / $17,900 USD-CAD.

Together, we can improve the well-being of a hungry child so that he/she receives the nutritional supplement needed to live a healthier more successful life – both psychologically and physically. Your donation will ensure that no child starts their day on an empty stomach. The porridge we provide is made from bulrush millet flour, milk and sugar and is cooked on-site at the school by volunteers.

The cost of sponsoring a breakfast is as follows:
