UNRWA recognises The World Federation’s support of humanitarian aid programs in Gaza

At the start of November 2015, The World Federation received a plaque from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in recognition of its support of UNRWA relief programs in Gaza.

The World Federation has been working in collaboration with UNRWA since before 2009 supporting various food aid and housing programs, repairing damaged shelters and more recently - sponsoring vocational training for female students in the Gaza Strip.

Emergency interventions have been required in Gaza since the Israeli-imposed blockade in 2006. These blockades have pushed Gaza into unprecedented unemployment and poverty, devastated the private sector and left over 80% of the population dependent on international assistance. The Gaza Strip is home to a population of more than 1.5 million people, including 1.1 million Palestine refugees.

The World Federation takes this opportunity to thank UNRWA for its work in Gaza where so many men, women and children rely on and benefit from their programs.
