Spreading Shia'ism in Sri Lanka

“Educate a woman and you educate a generation” is an adage that has been repeated through the centuries and attributed to various personalities.  Regardless of its origins, the truth behind the statement is timeless.

This is why tableegh activities like those of the Az Zahra Association in Sri Lanka are so important.  Az Zahra is the only association actively engaged in sharing the message of the Ahlul Bayt (a) in Sri Lanka.

They hold monthly programmes in Colombo with an average attendance of 125 sisters and also travel to outstations to speak to individual families in the smaller villages about the Tashayyu school of thought.

Having already converted 100 families in various small villages, the association hopes to be able to continue its work by visiting new areas and accepting the invitations they have received from other neighbouring townships to speak on the principles and thoughts of Shia Islam.

Despite financial constraints, physical attacks and a highly-funded anti-Shia campaign working against them, the Az Zahra Association is confident and eager to continue its work in the name of the Ahlul Bayt (a).  May the Almighty support them and grant them continuous success in their efforts, insha’Allah.

You can be a part of this and other projects like it to spread the message of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) by donating through our Islamic Education Tableegh fund.  Give now and make an investment for your Future.
