Kashmir Flood Relief Fund: The World Federation Expands Relief Efforts into India

In September 2014, the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir faced its worst floods in over 60 years.  These record floods caused by heavy rainfall resulted in loss of lives, displacement of the region’s population and destruction of property in both India and Pakistan.

To help the disaster victims in Pakistan’s affected areas, The World Federation appealed to the worldwide community to donate to its Pakistan Relief Fund.

We thank all of our donors who have made a contribution in support of this appeal. The World Federation has identified an urgent need for food rations in the Punjab Province where displaced families have no access to this basic need for survival.

After consulting with our regional partners in both Pakistan and India, The World Federation is now expanding its relief efforts into India where the devastation has claimed the lives of nearly 250 people and stranded about 600,000. The cost of the damage is estimated at almost $1 billion. Reports coming from different parts of the region disclose that victims are still waiting for help to arrive. Hospitals are dysfunctional as the threat of waterborne diseases grows with each passing day. Communication has yet to be fully restored which makes relief work that much more challenging.

KASHMIR FLOOD RELIEF FUND

In both India and Pakistan, The World Federation is working hand in hand with its regional partners to provide emergency food rations to the flood victims. The cost of each food basket is £16 GBP / $26 USD-CAD. The World Federation has committed $20,000 USD in aid in the region. Please help the victims of the Jammu and Kashmir floods with your donation.
