E - Book Review: Selecting a Spouse: The Heavenly Path

E- Book review for the World Federation

In the Name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Merciful

The World federation has begun converting all its books into ebooks. We currently have 18 books converted into ebooks. This month, we would like to promote the following ebook:

Selecting a Spouse: The Heavenly Path by Shahid Jaffer

When I decided that I was ready for the next stage of my life, the enormity of that simple decision hit me. I had very little idea where to start - of course everyone's in the same boat - but that's not really reassuring!

I found this book a good guide for the early stages of the whole marriage process, right from what sort of stuff to be thinking about and asking when you first meet ('what will we talk about?') all the way through to making that final decision ('how will I know?').

We all know the difference between religion and cultural practices but sometimes the line becomes a little blurred and I thought this book was a useful reminder as to where exactly that line lies. It's also useful to know the different ways things are done - everyone thinks they know how marriage works but take it from a newlywed - it's completely different when you're on the inside! It also addresses those 'I'm not quite sure' issues like Istikhara, Mahr, and the exact use of 'an engagement' period and includes fiqh rules where required - as well as personal experiences from newly married individuals.

I'd recommend this to guys and girls thinking of getting married as a useful quick read before you get started. It helped me!  - Shahid Abbas, Male, London
