We dedicated the last days of the month of April 2017 to holding youth camps in India
The World Federation’s India Office are running two certified personal development courses this April – a wonderful opportunity for the youth of our community to enhance some essential skills.
The Youth Development Program (YDP) will run from the 20th to the 21st of April and is open to both boys and girls until the age of 25. The YDP course is invaluable for all youngsters as it allows them to develop leadership skills from a young age. The course engages you in a range of experiential, reflective and interactive exercises in a comfortable, supportive and professional environment. This program is entirely workshop and activity based and this interactive nature has a very positive response from participants. The fees for this course are INR 2,500. If you are interested in taking part, please email [email protected].
The Mentor Development Program (MDP) will follow this, running from the 22nd to 23rd of April. This is open to both boys and girls over the age of 20. This is incredibly important and allows for the development of invaluable mentor skills. The MDP focuses on having an in-depth understanding of mentoring, mentor-mentee relationships and the values of life. These are put into practice and are incredibly useful for events such as the Annual Youth Summer Camps held in India. One of last year’s participants said ‘Great sessions! I learnt a lot through all the activities and developed the skill sets that we learnt. Also very introspective as we see how our mistakes were unmasked during the activities’. To apply for this program, please email [email protected].
Both of these courses will prove very beneficial, both for community-based activities as well as for future careers. In order to apply as a mentor for our Annual Youth Summer Camps, applicants must have taken part in both the YDP and MDP courses.

As I contemplate on how to pen down my experience as a mentor for the recently concluded WF girls’ youth course, my thoughts run to the time when I was a little girl and yearned to go out and explore the world, similar to these girls who were bubbling with exuberance, vitality and an insatiable thirst for learning new things. My mentoring experience to these girls was exhilarating and a source of enlightenment.
