When I first learnt that I had been accepted into this course I felt joy, not only because I would have the opportunity to increase my knowledge of Islam, but also because I knew that Imam Ridha and Sayeda Masooma had accepted me so I could visit them.

In the quest of providing a service to the Women of the Community on 29th October 2013 the manager of The World Federation India Office, Asad Virani, visited Jamiat Fatima (sa) at Mira Road.
Established in the year 2003, Jamiat Fatima (sa) is run by its Principal Maulana Sayyed Ehsan Haider Jawadi Sahab who is the son of Marhum Allama Sayyed Zeeshan Haider Jawadi Sahab. This hawza caters to the women of the community all year round. At present there are more than 350 students divided into various batches like Primary, Muballigha, Aalima and Saturday Classes. The hawza runs in 4 shifts each day. During the month of Ramadhan, Quran classes are conducted for Gents late in the evenings along with Aamal of Shab e Qadr.
A rapidly developing suburb, Mira Road, is located to the north of Mumbai. The population of Shia Itha-Asheris in Mira Road is almost 15,000. The Hawza is located in the prime area of Mira Road and is easily accessible by local transport. Having 6 class rooms, a computer lab, a meeting area, a kitchen and 2 washrooms the hawza has total 1,600 sq. ft. of area.
The hawza doesn’t charge fees to the students. Apart from Islamic knowledge, the students are also taught vocational courses like Stitching and Cooking. The language of instruction is Urdu, however, keeping in mind the requirement of the youth, English Speaking classes are also run as a part of the curriculum. Computer classes are offered as an extra curriculum activity to those who are interested.
The students travel from all parts of Mumbai daily to attend lectures, there are some who even travel 1.5 hours to reach the hawza. Some underprivileged students are also offered Train and Bus Passes. For outstation teachers, staff quarters is provided by the Hawza.
The visit was to discuss with Sayyed Ehsan the opportunities wherein the World Federation India Office and Jamiat Fatima (sa) could partner with each other for the betterment of the Women of the Community. Many points were discussed on Family Ethics, Youth courses, Short Certified courses etc which will be finalised in due course. The World Federation also plans to provide Public Speaking Classes for the students of the Hawza.

Sayyed Ehsan is very much pleased with the interest The World Federation has in its objective of providing service to the women of the community. He has also worked with the India Office in the past at many occasions.
