Reconnect With Your Religion!

The World Federation launches “Perspectives on Islamic Faith and History” by Dr. Bashir Ahmed Datoo in EBOOK format.

Many of us would like to learn more about our faith and religion, especially given the challenges of our current times.  On an almost daily basis, we face situations and choices that make us question what our opinion as Muslims should be.  Without a clear comprehension of our founding principles, it is impossible to have a strong standing in tumultuous environment that we live in.

This second enlarged edition of Dr. Datoo's collection of essays is an ideal publication for the Muslim who wants to either learn or refresh his or her knowledge regarding the foundations of Islam.  The fifty essays in this book are short, straightforward and use interesting examples to illustrate his ideas.

The variety of issues addresses - from the spiritual aspects of Fiqh and 'Aqaid to the practical aspects of history, politics and society - make the book one that will appeal to a range of interests.  This integration is intentional as the writer tries to show how all the subjects inevitably connect to the one unifying foundation concept of Tawhid.

Dr. Datoo uses various reliable sources, including the Qur'an and ahadith to support his writing.  There are plenty of explanatory notes, introductions and sub-sections that make the essays easy to both read and understand.

A key factor that makes this book attractive is that the essays can be read individually and each one stands alone - which means that it is perfect for those who don't have time for dedicated reading or who prefer to read 'on the go'.

As I contemplate on how to pen down my experience as a mentor for the recently concluded WF girls’ youth course, my thoughts run to the time when I was a little girl and yearned to go out and explore the world, similar to these girls who were bubbling with exuberance, vitality and an insatiable thirst for learning new things. My mentoring experience to these girls was exhilarating and a source of enlightenment.
