As the world focuses on the plight of the Syrian people and other refugees fleeing to safer lands in search of a better life, we cannot forget those who are fighting a different kind of battle where the lack of clean water is silently destroying lives in Kenya’s drought affected regions.
Thanks to the support of donors from across the world, The World Federation has raised enough donations to build 18 of the 40 wells we targeted in the Muharram 1437 Ali Asghar Water Appeal. These new wells will bring great joy and relief to the beneficiary families.
Before the Muharram Appeal closes, we urgently need donors to sponsor another 22 wells (£23,500) to achieve our target so that more families have an opportunity to a better quality of life. Access to clean water improves health; healthy adults can go to work to earn a living for their families and children can go to school to get a good education. Employment and education reduce poverty. Your support can make this a reality.
The cost of building one well in Kenya is £1,150 GBP / $1,750 USD / $2,300 CAD. This amounts to only £3 GBP / $5 USD / $6 CAD a day. Your donation, great or small will support the construction of urgently needed water wells and ensure that families have easy access to clean and safe water. When you sponsor a full well, we will place a personalized plaque next to your completed well and send you a report and photographs as well.
