In May 2014, the Secretary General of The World Federation, Al-Haj Shan-E-Abbas Hassam, announced that he was stepping down from his role.  At the time, it was not confirmed at what point during the term this would take place or who would replace him.

He was appointed by the President, Dr Asgarali Moledina in July 2011 and is married with two children.  Shan E Abbas lives in Birmingham, UK and runs a successful business.  He has volunteered in the community for a number of years and began as part of the youth committee in his local jamaat.  Since that time, he  has worked with CoEJ and in various capacities at The World Federation.  InshAllah Shan E Abbas will continue to volunteer with the organisation in the International Development team.

As the youngest Secretary General in the history of The World Federation, we look back at an interview with Shan E Abbas in May 2014 in which he reflects on the work he has been involved in during his time as Secretary General.
