The World Federation of KSIMC

This month, the President of The World Federation, Dr Asgar Moledina, visited Uganda. As part of his trip, he visited the family of Sheikh Dactoor Abdu Kadir Muwaya (pictured below) who was killed in his home by unknown assailants last year, met with community members and saw some of the fantastic work being undertaken by the Bilal Muslim Mission of Uganda.

Sheikh Muwaya

Sheikh Muwaya was the leader of the Shia community in Uganda and was a committed and hard-working humanitarian. He contributed tirelessly to providing clean water, electricity, basic medical facilities, schools, vocational training and much, much more to thousands of people in Uganda. Below is a picture of him at one of his projects in Mayuge District the day before he was killed. Sheikh Muwaya was not only an incredible humanitarian, but also a close friend of Dr. Moledina.  Dr Moledina personally visited the family of the Marhum, along with Asimbhai Morvi, the chairman of Bilal Muslim Mission of Uganda and Gulambhai Virjee of Dubai, who was in Uganda at the time.

They met the Sheikh’s son at his house and then went to recite Qur’an at the gravesite of the Marhum.

Meeting community members

Dr Moledina also met with many community members whilst in Uganda.   He spoke to students who had gathered to meet him as well as office bearers of the Jamaat. Whilst meeting with the office bearers of the Jamaat, he updated them about the activities of The World Federation and in particular the work being done as part of the Yemen Emergency Appeal.

The Bilal Muslim Mission of Uganda aims to promote the Madhab of the Ahlulbayt (as) with other non-member Shia communities and with Muslims and non-Muslims at large in our society. The organisation has been extremely successful in its tabligh activities and Dr Moledina visited the area of Jinja to see some of the fantastic work that was being done by the Bilal Muslim Mission.
